Welcome to Bainbridge, Georgia. Whether you’re here for a day trip, spending the night or considering relocating, we welcome you. Here you’ll discover the true beauty of the Old South and experience the graciousness of Southern hospitality.

Bainbridge is all about community. Bimonthly, local merchants set up in the town square to sell homegrown products at the Downtown Farmer’s Market. Bainbridge also hosts several festivals throughout the year beginning in May. On Mother’s Day weekend each year, the community gathers along the river for the River Town Days Festival. River Town Days features a concert on Friday night, followed by Saturday activities like Great River Rummage, kids’ activities, a fun run, a homemade raft race, and the Rubber Ducky Dash for Cash, where 5000 rubber ducks race down the river.

Bainbridge’s July 4th Celebration, held at the Boat Basin, features entertainment and Southwest Georgia’s largest fireworks display.

In September, Bainbridge is host to Bainbridge Bikefest, an annual event that welcomes bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts from across the Southeast.

November welcomes the Fall Festival and Fair. Nearly 10,000 people attend the fair each year, which features rides, food and other activities for kids of all ages.

During the holidays, Bainbridge offers many activities for the community to enjoy the season. Holiday Open House kicks off the holiday season on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Christmas on the River, a new holiday tradition held on the first Thursday in December, features the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree. Other holiday events include Christmas on the Square, held on the third Thursday of December and Christmas Eve at the Gazebo, where the community gathers with the Bainbridge British Brass Band to sing carols.

Southern towns are famous for their downtown squares and Bainbridge is no exception. Willis Park is the center of downtown, and is lined with boutiques and antique shops. The square is where many of our community events happen throughout the year. Start here and take the Bainbridge Heritage Tour. This self guided tour features Bainbridge’s historic buildings and homes, many of which have been restored to their original stately glory. Heritage tour guides can be picked up at City Hall or the Welcome Center.

Whatever arts appeal to you, Bainbridge is the place to find some of the best artists in the area, and many are award winning and published. Many of their works are on display in the local shops and at the Fire House Center and Gallery, just off the square downtown. If theatre is more your style, visit the Bainbridge Little Theatre. The theatre has four productions each year, plus a children’s summer camp.

If you’re looking for outdoor adventure, Bainbridge is the place to be. Try golfing at one of the local courses, playing tennis at one of the city’s many public courts, or swimming at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center. One of Bainbridge’s most popular sports is fishing, so bring your boat, fish off the back with a cane pole, or hire an experienced guide and boat for a beautiful day on Lake Seminole.

In 2008, the Georgia State Legislature declared Bainbridge the Bass Capital of Georgia. The Flint River and Lake Seminole offer abundant fishing and water sports. Both attract thousands of amateur and professional fisherman, and many top bass tournaments are held here throughout the year. In fact, Bainbridge was home to the very first BASS tournament. While you’re here, be sure to visit Jack Wingate, a fishing legend who’s full of stories about the lake.

Bainbridge is also home to Silver Lake Wildlife Management Area. Here, visitors can enjoy the outdoors by hiking, hunting or fishing. Silver Lake is bordered by the Flint River and Lake Seminole.

You can find numerous plantations in Bainbridge. Whether you like to hunt, want to host a wedding or corporate event, or just want a weekend away, one of our beautiful plantations will certainly meet your needs.

Agriculture plays a significant role in the live of Southerners and is the largest industry in Decatur County. Take any back road and experience way down South in the land of cotton - or peanuts. The cotton fields are usually in full bloom during the months of November and December.

G.W. Long Farm is a Certified Georgia Farm Market where you can pick your own produce. The farm is open from May-September and has everything from watermelons to sweet potatoes to squash and okra.
