Georgia also has a rich history to share with its visitors – from colonial to civil war to civil rights. History will come alive at the major Civil War battlefields, Atlanta’s Cyclorama and the Andersonville Prison. Georgia is also home to the advancement of African American civil rights and to its leader, Martin Luther King, Jr.

Speaking of history, Savannah has the best-preserved colonial historic district in the country and has been ranked as the eighth best travel destination in the country. Nearby is the terrific Tybee Island beach. All along the coast there are historical destinations, such as Fort King George and Fort Pulaski. Further south are the pristine beaches at Brunswick and the Golden Isles. Here you can enjoy the natural beauty of Georgia’s salt marshes, fish, swim, check out the sea turtles, and go hiking and birding along fantastic trails and beaches.
