Villa Rica was the site of the first Gold rush in Georgia in the year of 1826. And the first within the United States! Records indicate that gold was discovered in Dahlonega in 1828 and in California in 1849. Amazing!

Direction from I-20:

  • Exit off I-20 at exit number 26 (Mirror Lake/Liberty Road Exit)

  • Heading west make a right turn at end of exit ramp; heading east make a leftt turn at end of exit ramp

  • Continue about 3 miles, road will dead end at Highway 61

  • Turn right and continue to the first road on the right

  • Turn right on this road (Stockmar Road)

  • Continue until you pass the golf course, Gold Museum will be on your left just past golf course
